Let text-like fields grow in the inline or block axis within explicit bounds.

Contract

Only missing-type, text, search, email, URL, telephone, password, and number inputs participate. Selects, file/color/date controls, buttons, hidden inputs, and submit controls are excluded.

The defaults are 8ch–100% for inputs and 3lh–12lh for textareas. Textareas retain native resize and scroll internally at the cap. The base Textarea component does not opt in by default.
